Mindfulness
Jon Kabat-Zinn says that mindfulness is “Awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally.” Why bother becoming mindful, you may wonder. Because, in living mindfully, we are gifted with truly being present in this one life we have, making conscious, choice-filled decisions rather than defaulting our way through life, and we can actually reduce our suffering by selecting where we place our attention rather than feeling dragged along by pain and distress.
